The revival of John Osborne’s scorching drama Look Back in Anger opens February 2 at off-Broadway’s Laura Pels Theatre. Directed by Sam Gold, the Roundabout Theatre Company production stars Matthew Rhys, Sarah Goldberg, Adam Driver and Charlotte Parry.
Set in 1950s England, Jimmy Porter (Rhys) lives with his wife Alison (Goldberg) and friend Cliff (Driver) in a filthy one-room flat. When Alison’s upper-class friend Helena (Parry) comes to visit, the household quickly becomes a battle zone. The foursome must fight to live and love one another in their cramped and turbulent quarters.
“To be doing this part, in this play, in New York City has been a great ambition of mine for many years,” Rhys recently told Broadway.com. “I’m like the cat that got the proverbial cream.”
This limited engagement concludes its run on April 8.
